“Kid Soul”

JIMI Hill, famously known as “Kid Soul,” had his musical journey kick off on a scorching summer day in Memphis, Tennessee, a city renowned for its blues, barbecue, and Graceland. His passion for singing prompted his father, Jimmie Hill, Sr., to enroll him in a local talent show at a tender age.

His rising popularity secured him a weekly spot on WMCTV Channel 5’s music talent show, Swing Shift. JIMI’s remarkable talent captured the interest of MGM Sounds of Memphis, a prominent music label, leading to an offer for a recording contract.

MGM Recording Artist

As an MGM Recording Artist, JIMI released a single featuring his songs “Tears on My Pillow” and “Guessing Game.” Everything was set in motion—photo shoots, promotional tours, concerts, and radio station promotions. The single had already started airing on radio stations when MGM unexpectedly discontinued its involvement in the music industry after selling the company to Polygram Records.

STAX Records Connection

Despite this setback, JIMI’s father was determined to support his son’s musical aspirations by seeking opportunities with other labels. After connecting with STAX Records and the legendary producer and songwriter, Raymond Jackson, Sr., known for co-writing the timeless hit “If Loving You Is Wrong” by Luther Ingram, plans were in motion for JIMI to work with Raymond. Raymond, Sr. often mentioned, “Motown got the Jackson 5, and STAX got JIMI Hill.”

Tragically, Raymond, Sr.’s untimely passing prevented him from guiding JIMI further in his career. However, Jimmie, Sr. persistently pursued record deals for his son, albeit with offers that didn’t align with JIMI’s best interests.

The Road back to my roots!

Returning to his musical roots, JIMI joined forces with “The Force Band,” a highly skilled local group that included his childhood friends, brothers Raymond, Jr., and CorNes Jackson. The trio sparked a musical sensation in their community and beyond. Raymond, Jr., and CorNes Jackson inherited significant musical prowess from their father, Raymond, Sr., showcasing exceptional guitar skills and production expertise.

Recognizing a void in contemporary music, JIMI and the Jackson brothers established the independent record label “W3 MUSIC GROUP.” Their distinctive sound promises a refreshing experience that leaves listeners craving more—an offering that stands apart in today’s music landscape.
